Congratulations to the SHS Jazz Bands on their success at Jazz in the Meadows! The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Quintet received Division I "Superior" ratings, and the following students were named Outstanding Musicians: Monica Rogalski (tenor saxophone), Lorelei Halatek (tenor saxophone), Brandon Jaimes (trombone), Jason Wickland (guitar - twice!), Aaron Fradin (trumpet), and Patrick Ward (trombone - twice!). This is a very competitive festival - congrats to all!

Performances This Week: Fremd's Jazz and Java Concert is this Tuesday at 7pm, featuring trumpeter Kirk Garrison. Tickets are $2 for students, $5 for adults. On Saturday, Rolling Meadows High School hosts the 31st annual Jazz in the Meadows Jazz Festival. This is one of the largest high school jazz festivals in the country. This year's pro groups are the Big Bad Bones (noon) and New Standard Jazz Orchestra (5pm). Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for adults.

CSO Field Trip on Wednesday, February 24th: Spots are filling up quickly. If you are one of the first 100 students to sign up, make sure to get a field trip form and return it to the music office by THIS FRIDAY. Once we hit 100, we will begin a waiting list for tickets. Beginning on Tuesday, any students missing their field trip form will give up their seat to the next person on the waiting list.

Recording Assignments: Reminder - all bands have Schoology recording assignments due Friday at 4pm.

Performances This Weekend: On Saturday at 7pm, the District 211 Honors Orchestra performs at HEHS (including 8 SHS bandos!). Tickets are $5 and there is limited seating. On Saturday at 7:30pm, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band performs at the Prairie Center. Tickets are $36 for students/$38 for adults. Both will be incredible concerts!
