Band Announcements for January 31, 2014

-"Success is simply a matter of luck. Ask any failure."
-Pep band gig tonight: DOUBLE HEADER. Call time 5:00 pm. Dress is fancy Friday. You may come to both games or just one. Check in b4 the first game AND after the last game for credit for both.
-Perc. ensembles: periods 3, 4, 5 today.
-All horns go home for the weekend (Pele). Why do I write this every Friday? This should be a no-brainer!
-Gerber & Chester: Return my jazz CDs.
-IHSA entries are in and paid for. You are committed (or not). If you bail at this point, you need to pay a penalty. Solos are $8.00. Ensembles are $15. Check the list on the band bulletin t make sure you're on it.
-Cadet sectionals today: Work on Music Man.

-Welcome Back!
-CB Sectionals Today: Work on Sovereign Variants.
-Pep Band Last Friday: Great job! Thank you to Paulie's groupies who played at the swim meet as well.
-Pep Band DOUBLEHEADER this Friday: call time is 5pm. If you attend both games, you get credit for 2 games. Fancy Friday.

-Cadet Band: Rhythm Worksheets are due TODAY.
-Jazz Ensemble: rehearsal after school today.
-Jazz Lab Band: no full rehearsal this week. Sectionals are meeting this week: trumpets Wed, rhythm Thurs, saxes Fri, trombones ???.

-IHSA Solo&Ensemble Contest: entries are due TODAY.
-CLUB PHOTOS THURSDAY AFTER SCHOOL: 3:20 Theatre Guides, 3:30 Jazz Ensemble/Combo/Lab Band, 3:35 Tri-M. Jazzers meet in the department around 3 and we'll try to get in early.
-IOU's: Anderson, M. $5, Avila $3, Jasso $3, Jones $2 (from September!), Jorgensen $2.50, Kim $2.50, Kowalczyk $4 (from October!), Mitchell $3 (from October!), Washington $8, Worsham $6 (from October!)

-Cadet Sectionals Today: Work on Songs of Old Kentucky.
-Basketball Game Tonight: CALL TIME IS NOW 6:30PM. Theme is White Out.

-Swim Team National Anthem Band: call time is 4:15.
-IHSA Solo&Ensemble Contest: has extended the entrance deadline to next week. If you want to sign up, you have until Wednesday, January 29th to get it in.
-Technique Classes Resume Next Week: see board for your assignment for next week's class.

-All Horns Go Home Today: our goal is for all individual concert band parts to be learned in the next two weeks. Also, practice technique class assignments with a metronome.

-Last Night's Concert: Congratulations, Wind Symphony! It was a fun night and a very musical performance. This is one of my favorite concerts each year. Also, thank you to our freshman guides.
-Cadet Sectionals tomorrow: Work on new music.
-Basketball Game Friday: 5pm call time. Theme is White Out.
-Semester review: Remember that one review must be off-campus. If you reviewed a program at SHS last semester, you need to find something off campus. BTW...this assignment is on Schoology!

-CONGRATULATIONS!!! Both the Jazz Lab Band and the Jazz Ensemble were awarded "Superior" ratings at the North Shore Jazz Festival on Sat. That continues the string of 14 consecutive years of appearances by SHS bands that have received Superior ratings.
-CB Sectionals: Look at new tunes.
-Give Andy Chester a high five today. He leaves for Peoria tomorrow morning to represent SHS in the Future Music Educators Symposium that is part of the IMEA All-State Music Festival. Andy is only the 2nd Saxon to ever be invited to this.
-D54/SHS Combine Concert. 7:00. This is open to the public. FREE. Good for semester review.
-WS: Call time is 6:30 tonight. Dress is formal.

We begin 2nd semester today. We all start today with straight "A"s. Seniors run through the tape...we're almost done!
-WS percussion: Work on Head Talk today.
-Lab Band today 3:00.
-SB: Sectionals start today.
-Drumline: I'm a little embarassed....Wenger came to take pictures this morning (possible catalog spread) and that section is a mess back there.
-IOUs from 1st semester: Washington $8, Jasso $3, Avila $3, Jones $2, Jorgensen $2.50, Hansen $4, Kowalczyk $4, Mitchell $3, Worsham $6, Anderson $5.
-IHSA naughtys: Lemar, Jarvis, Mathew, Grubb. 
-WS: Reminder...you have a concert tomorrow night. Call time is 6:30. Dress is formal wear.

-Last day of 1st semester...good luck on your exams. Study hard for them...don't waste all the free time you've been given this week.
-Got Outback pictures or videos? Send them to:schaumburgband101@gmail.com. Mr. Wilkes is compiling them.
-Great job on Saturday's pep band gig. The band was HUGE!
-Pep Band gig on Sat. Call is 5:00. Theme is black out.
-Jazz Lab Band 3:00 today. Run thru on Thurs. after last final exam.
-Jazz Ensemble 7:30 tonight. Run thru on Thurs. after last final exam.
-All percussion ensembles will meet during your band's final times. Gotta conflict? See me today.
-The music dept. will be open to hang out during exams. Please don't bring any "outsiders" in.
-North Shore Jazz Fest is this Sat. Come to Glenbrook South HS and hear some great jazz. SHS bands are at 11:00 and 2:00. There are about 50 bands at the fest, so lots to see.

-D211 Honors Orchestra auditions 3rd today.
-IHSA Entries due in today. WS...this is a class project. You are all required to participate.
-Pep Band gig tomorrow night. Call time is 5:00.
-Jazz ensemble trumpets sectionals after school today.
-MIA: Who has the Rosewood marimba?
-HORNS GO HOME FOR THE WEEKEND. Work on fundamentals!!! IHSA pieces.

Brian May, lead guitarist for Queen, is also an astrophysicist and co-author of the book: "Bang!-The Complete History of the Universe".
-MIA: Horn mouthpiece last seen on Bus #1 (Outback Tour) seen it?
-D211 Honors Orchestra auditions: Fri. 3rd period.
-IHSA enries due on Friday. You need a title and composer.
-Drumline: all covers needs to be aired out. They were packed away wet. There could be mold.
-Pep Band gig on Sat. Call is 5:00. Dress is USA.
-Jazz ensemble saxes after school today.
-Jazz ensemble rhythm section at 7:00 tomorrow. Someone tell Kyle.
