-Cadet sectionals: Celebration
-Holst geeks: Check out WFMT (98.7) tonight at 7:00. Bill McLaughlin's show will finish The Planets. Last night's show was fascinating. His commentary about First Suite was awesome. Even with the many times I've conducted that piece, I learned stuff.
-Send-off today. WS/CB/Drums. Leave class at 1:30.
-IHSA Recital next week. Schedule is posted.
-WS Trumpets: Your mutes are in. $23.36. Animal pelts or Bitcoins will not be accepted.
-Cubs lose 5-2 in 1st Spring Training game.
-Horns Go Home for the weekend...get the concert music done.

-Tonight: Tune into WFMT (98.7) at 7:00 for an hour show on Holst. Featuring commentary and

-Congratulations Jazzers! Both band had excellent performances on Sat. at the Jazz in the Meadows. The Jazz Ensemble was awarded a Division I rating. Patrick Ward and Michael Lupa were awarded "Outstanding Musician" certificates for their solo work.
-Pep Band....great season!! Thank you for all of your time and talents. The 6th Man has always had a reputation for excellence in the MSL. That tradition continued this year. Thanks you!
-WS sectionals: So much to do....Armenian Dances seems to be your demon. Get it done.
-Lab Band after school today.
-Jazz Ensemble today at 7:30 tonight.
-IOUs: Novak $4.50, Deisy $8, Anderson $5 since the Spudnik launch, Mitchell $5.50 since 10/7, Jorgensen $2.50 since Prohibition was put into law, Worsham $6 since 10/14,  T-Boogie $3 since 2/18...pay your bills!

-Good luck to the Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Ensemble at Jazz in the Meadows Saturday. Lab Band performs at 8:30 and Ensemble performs at 10:30. This is the largest high school jazz festival in the country. It would be great to see some friendly faces in the audience.
-Jazzers: Be here no later than 6:45 Saturday morning. Bus rolls at 7:00.
-Jazz drummers: pack the kit.
-Final pep band game of the year is tonight: Boys v. Conant. 6:30 call time. Red out.
-Cadet sectionals: Work on Songs of Old Kentucky, 2nd movement. Use the whole period.
-All horns need to go home this weekend. At this point, all technical and rhythmic aspects of your concert music should be learned. Focus on musicality and nailing down those most difficult passages. We are only as strong as our weakest link.

-Today's quote sure rings true for our send off today. Thank you to those who played. This is your school and you need to do these things. You are only in high school once. Be present.
-Jazzers...thank you so much for yesterday's exchange. It was great for us to play in front of a different audience. It was also great to do some jamming. That is the true essence of jazz, that folks can just get together and just play. It was also cool just to have the hang out time afterwards. The LA kids really liked you midwesterners.
-Jazz drummers: Pack up the drum kit.
-FINAL Basketball game for the season is tomorrow night against Conant. Call is 6:30. It's a RED out. Conant.
-Cadets: Sectionals tomorrow. Use entire period. You can eat when you get home at 11:50!!!!

-Jazz Ensemble: Run thru after school today. We have guests. Be gracious hosts. Lober...what's your status?
-We are hosting a jazz group from L.A. today after school. Anyone is welcome to watch if you wish. It'll be very low key.
-Send-off tomorrow for the Bowlers. WS & SB plus drumline...you can leave 1st hour at 7:55 am.

-Lab Band after school today. 3:00.
-Jazz Ensemble run thru tomorrow after school (3:00) with our Caifornia friends. Any other band members are welcome to come in and listen if you like.
-Tonight: Fremd Jazz Coffeehouse. 7:00. Guest artist is Ron Perillo.
-Tonight: Mark Colby is at the Jazz Showcase. FREE. 8:00 & 10:00 shows.
-The Randy Brecker concert is cancelled for tomorrow night due to the UIC facu;lty walking out on strike today.
-The Count Basie Orchestra concert at Elmhurst College Jazz Fest is SOLD OUT. There are still tix available for Sat. night's show; Gil Evans Project with former SHS bando Jessica Pearce (French Horn).

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!XOXOXO!!!

-What a FUN concert last night! Thanks to all of you for your energy and talent. Special thanks to all those who did the extras...decorating, flowers, food collection, flyers, PR... lots of hands made this a very entertaining evening of music.
-OMG...one of those rare weekends for the band...nothing on the calendar! TAKE YOUR HORN HOME FOR THE LONG WEEKEND...concert music really needs lots of work with a metronome.
-Jazz Ensemble: Rehearsals next week...Monday 10:00 (Ill buy donuts)...Wed. 3:00 run thru with our California band friends.
