Congratulations to the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band on your outstanding performances at the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival. Both groups received Division II ratings as judged on a "national" scale. What an incredible day of music. Thank you all for your artistry and for representing our program and school so well. We hope you enjoyed and learned a lot from the experience.

Performances This Weekend: On Saturday, some of the best high school bands from the area will be at Hersey for the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival. Performances begin at 11am and end at 9:30pm. SHS Wind Symphony performs at 2pm in the Main Gym and Symphonic Band performs at 4:45pm in the Black Box Theater. On Sunday, the Northshore Concert Band (including Mr. Tipps) performs at 3pm at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall at Northwestern. Great concert review opportunities here.

Jazz 'n Joe Coffeehouse: Come check out the 15th annual SHS Jazz 'n Joe Coffeehouse this Wednesday at 7pm in the Media Center, featuring the Choraliers, D54 Jazz Band, Jazz Sextet, Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Quintet, and Jazz Ensemble. Our guest artist is Tito Carrillo, Associate Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Illinois. Admission is $2. If you are able to help us out with decorating or serving refreshments, sign up on the whiteboard.

Jazzers: Monday - Lab Band 4-6, Sextet 6-6:30, Quintet 6:30-7, Ensemble 7-9. Call time for Wednesday is 6:00.

WS: Thanks to everyone who performed in Friday's Concerto Competition. We heard five excellent performances and had a very difficult decision to make. Thank you for your outstanding preparation and musicianship.

WS/SB: We received our performance times for the Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival (Saturday, April 16 at Hersey). WS performs at 2pm and SB at 4:45pm. Based on those times, we will tentatively leave SHS around noon and return around 6:30pm. Make sure this is marked on your personal and family calendars.

Fundraiser: Mr. Currie will be on Tuesday to launch our final fundraiser of the year - cookie dough/popcorn.

D211 Community Engagement: All students and parents are encouraged to attend this week's Community Engagement sessions focusing on Student Involvement and Wellness and contribute your voice to the discussion on the future of our district. Meetings are 7-9pm Monday (@ HEHS) and Tuesday (@ PHS).
