GO CUBS!!!

Jazz Ensemble: sectionals only this week. Focus on Blues 1 & Manteca.
Jazz Lab Band: rehearsals will start next Monday 3-5pm.
Jazz Sextet: no rehearsal this week.
Jazz Combo #2: rehearsal Tuesday 3-4.

ILMEA District 7 Festival Concert: Next Saturday, November 12th at 3pm at Crystal Lake Central High School. We will be offering a bus to bring SHS music students to the concert, departing SHS at 1:15pm and returning around 5:30. Bring $5 and sign up with an intern to beginning this Wednesday to reserve your spot. This may be used as a concert review. Spots are limited!

Tuba Christmas: Interested in playing euphonium or tuba for this year's Tuba Christmas? Check out a 20-minute informational meeting after school Wednesday. See Keneni for more details.

Sectionals This Week: yes. Due to the half-day, Friday's Cadet Band sectionals will be on Thursday this week.

Section Leaders: reminder - we have a gig next Sunday, November 13th. Itineraries to come.

Manna Orders: this month's orders are due Friday.

Seniors: is anyone looking at Ball State University and interested in playing in college? See Mr. Inendino for a cool opportunity.

Juniors/Seniors Interested in Studying Music Education: registration is now open for the Midwest Clinic's High School Institute. The HSI takes place on Thursday, December 15 (8:30am-5:00pm). If you are interested, see Mr. Inendino.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Variety Show! It was great to see such an array of talents, especially from so many bandos. This was a very fun show. Bravo!

Jazz Ensemble: Due to last week's schedule and Tuesday's Orchestra Concert, we will not rehearse this week.

Library Bash 2016: this Wednesday 12-3pm. Sign up on the whiteboard to make sure we order pizza for you.

SHS Concerts This Week! On Tuesday, the SHS Orchestras present their Fall Orchestra Concert, including one piece for full Symphony Orchestra. On Thursday, the SHS Choirs present their Fall Choir Concert. Both concerts start at 7pm and are free. Both would be great options for a concert review and count toward earning your free SHS Music lanyard.

Pies and Cinnarolls Fundraiser: due Tuesday.

Thank you, SMB, for a fantastic 2016 season. This was a great marching band season and a wonderful start to the year. Thank you for your commitment to each other and your dedication to excellence. Bravo!

MVPs from Last Week: Maddy Artman, Ardit Breznica, Jeffrey Delarosa, Caitlin Gonzales, Josh Groenewold, Joey Marzillo, Jimmy Minard, Jack Paton, Bennett Ray, Tom Schluckbier, Tracy Schluckbier, Brendan Warzynski, Karsten Zielinski.

Check out the Variety Show, Saxons Go for the Gold (and Red)!, this weekend! Friday and Saturday night, 7pm in the auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Lots of bandos are involved in this year's show. You can use this performance for an in-house concert review - check it out!

Drumline/Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Sextet: V-Show rehearsals Tuesday and Thursday after school in full dress. You must be attendance for the entire rehearsal (3-7pm tentatively). Be smart and do homework during down time. Call time for show nights is 6:30pm.

Drumline: This Sunday is the Making Strides Walk. Call time is 7:30 at Cabela's.

Bake Sale Competition Results: Congratulations to the Wind Symphony for bringing in the most baked goods to last weekend's VIP Craft Fair. Fabulous prizes to come.

Congratulations to Mr. Graffeo - he's getting married tomorrow!

It's Game Day! call time is 4:30 for percussion/5:45 for all others. Seniors - parents need to be in the south end zone at 6:15. Following the game, all of our seniors will have an opportunity to make a quick speech to the band. Please make sure parents know that this will be a longer night. Thank you, Class of 2017 for your leadership in this year's SMB.

Congratulations to our 18 ILMEA auditionees. Preparing for and completing an audition of this caliber is a significant accomplishment in itself. Independent of the results, we hope you grew and learned a lot through the experience. Bravo.

Congratulations to Brandon Jaimes for being selected for ILMEA District 7 Jazz Ensemble I and Orchestra!

Chicago Northshore Music College Fair: tonight 7-9pm at Northwestern University's Ryan Center for the Musical Arts. Any juniors and seniors thinking about majoring in music in college - check this out.

Program includes Prokofiev's Cinderella and the world premiere of a trombone concerto by Carl Vine. If interested, call 312-294-3000 and say you are with the Schaumburg High School Band. Students tickets are free - parents/family can go also but will pay regular price.
