Jazzers: Congratulations on a great Northshore Jazz Fest! Jazz Ensemble, Lab Band and Quintet received division I ratings, and the Sextet received a division II rating! What a day of great music making and learning.

Jazz Rehearsals this week:
Lab Band - Tuesday, 3:00p.m.-4:15p.m.
Ensemble - Tuesday, 7:00p.m.-9:00p.m.
Combo - Wednesday. Quintet 3:00p.m.-4:00p.m. Sextet 4:00p.m.-5:00p.m.

All Bands: Pep Band Concert is Tonight, Call time is 6:30. Member shirts and jeans. Tell you parents admission is a non-perishable food item.

Pep Band: Last game this Friday! Call time is 6:30. Theme is Neon/Tie Dye.

Auditions... Continue! If you are able to audition 1st, 2nd, 6th, or 8th hours - please see the director you will be auditioning with and schedule a time.

New Orleans Trip Down Payments: Get them in! Due Monday, February 2nd.

Sectionals: Start tomorrow! SB Tuesday: Emperata Overture; CB Wednesday: Charter Oak; Cadets Friday: At Dawn They Slept.

Band-Aid Concerts: Our guest conductor will be Mark Hengesh! Mr. Hengesh was the long time Director of Bands at Glenbard West High School. He has also taught at Schaumburg, Dundee, Glenbard North and John Hersey High Schools. He currently conducts the Arlington Heights Concert Band.

Band Announcements for the Week of January 20, 2015

Jazzers: Lab Band 3-5pm Tuesday. Quintet and Sextet Wednesday after school. Ensemble Thursday 7-9pm. Call time for Saturday's Northshore Jazz Festival is 6:15am. See your director for an updated itinerary (Quintet times have changed).

Pep Band: only three games left this season, including two this weekend. Friday Girls v. Palatine (6:30 call - Tropical) and Saturday Boys v. Hoffman Estates (5pm call - Rainbow - every section will wear a different color - student board reps will give you more information).

SHS/D54 Band-O-Rama: Wednesday at 7pm in the Main Gym (free). Cadet Percussion Ensemble and WS call time is 6:30. We are also looking for 6 freshmen to help out at the concert with handing out programs and assisting the junior high bands. You need to be here at 6pm Wednesday and stay through the concert. See Mr. Inendino right away if you are interested.

IHSA Solo and Ensemble Registration: the absolute deadline for entering an event for IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival is this Thursday. After Friday, we are completely locked out from submitting additional entries. All groups should have started rehearsing by the end of this week. Jazz Rehearsals This Week:
Jazz Lab Band - Monday normal time - 3-5pm.
Jazz Ensemble - Tuesday after finals - 1-3pm.
Jazz Combos - Wednesday after finals -Quintet:12:30-2:00, Sextet: 2:00pm-3:30.

Pep Band: Friday @ 6:30 - girls v. Barrington (Blackout).

Auditions: continue. If you signed up for a time on one of the cold days (other than 6th period), please go during that time TODAY (Monday).

IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival: Solo and Ensemble Festival is Saturday, March 7th at Lake Zurich High School. Register your event here: http://goo.gl/forms/lM3BYwdfx7. Events must be registered by the end of the school day Wednesday, January 14th.

Student Leadership Board: we will have our traditional Finals Week lunch at Portillo's on Barrington Road on Wednesday, January 14th at 1pm. Bring ideas for the Pep Band Concert theme and Band Aid Concert charities.

Percussion Ensembles: will meet during final exams during your band period.

Oboes/Trumpets/French Horns/Tubas: The Schaumburg Youth Orchestra is looking for a few students to fill out their chamber groups this winter. This would be a fantastic opportunity to play with an outstanding community youth orchestra. See Mr. Inendino ASAP if you are interested in more information.

Brass Players: Roosevelt University is holding a Brass Day next Saturday, January 17th with master classes and performances by members of the CSO and Lyric Opera brass section. CHECK THIS OUT! Here is a copy of the application. See Mr. Inendino if you are interested in participating.

Welcome Back and Happy 2015!

Jazzers: 3:00 Monday Jazz Lab Band Rehearsal. 7:00 Monday Jazz Ensemble. Combos after school Wednesday (all 3-5pm). Dr. Michael Stryker (Professor of Jazz Piano at Western Illinois University) will be here Wednesday afternoon to work with the combos. All are welcome to sit in and observe.

Pep Band: two games this weekend. Friday @ 6:30 - girls v. Fremd. Saturday @ 5:00 - boys v. Ridgewood.

Auditions: begin Monday. All must be heard before finals next week. If you have period 1/2/6/8 free, we need you to sign up for a time outside of class (you pick the day). Private lesson extra credit sheets are due by the end of finals.

Honors Orchestra Auditions: Monday during 3rd period. Good luck!

Sectionals will resume at beginning of 2nd semester.

IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival: if you are going to Solo and Ensemble festival, you should have a piece selected by now. If not, you need one by the end of this week. Reminder, this is a class project for WS/SB. We will do event registration later this week. Solo and Ensemble Festival is Saturday, March 7th at Lake Zurich High School.

Section Leaders: I have a gig for you guys this Wednesday during 1st hour. Meet in band room at 7:50am.
