Band Announcements for Tuesday, May 31st, 2016

Section Leader Interviews: Thank you to everyone who interviewed for a section leader position last week. We had many outstanding candidates interview. Next year's SMB leadership will be announced later this week.

Sectionals: all sectionals are done for the year.

Jazz Quintet: rehearsal at 7pm tonight.

Tri-M: End of Year Recital and Senior Recognition tonight at 5:00pm in the band room. All are welcome.

Performances This Week: Fremd's Band Concerts are this Thursday at 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

MISSING UNIFORMS: The following students need to turn in their uniforms ASAP. The Boosters are sending all items out Friday. If your uniform is not here by Thursday, there will be an additional cleaning cost.
WS Formalwear: Burke, Jaimes, Montalvo, Ward, Young, Fledderman, Haffner, Otsu, Wilkes.
SMB Uniforms: Haffner, Valerio (cape/sash only), Worsham, Stephens, Bartgen, Binder, Browne, Strohmeier.

Band Announcements for the Week of May 23rd, 2016

D211 Honor Band: Congratulations to everyone on an incredible performance Saturday. SHS had 28 students in the Honor Band. Thank you all for your dedication and musicianship. Professor Farris was very impressed with your work ethic and commitment to the music. We hope you learned a lot, met some new people from other bands, and enjoyed the experience. Bravo!

Band Awards Concert: this Tuesday. Call time is 6:30pm (Cadet - Band Room, CB - Choir Room, SB/WS - Auditorium). All students (except Symphony Orchestra members) will need to turn in uniforms immediately following the concert. Plan accordingly. There will also be a reception immediately following the concert in the student cafeteria. We hope everyone will be able to join to celebrate the end of the year and congratulate the Class of 2016.

Senior Awards: any seniors who are interested in giving an award at Tuesday's reception must sign up on the whiteboard.

Section Leader Interviews: Interviews will take place after school Wednesday-Friday. Please bring your filled out application to your interview. Dress for success.

Orchestra Winds/Perc: Reminder that there is a required orchestra dress rehearsal Wednesday. 6:30 Philharmonic, 7:45 Symphony. Please be early and ready to rehearse at your designated time.

Orchestra Concert: Thursday at 7pm in the auditorium. Free admission. In addition to some great repertoire for all winds and percussion, this concert will also feature the two winners of our 2016 Concerto Competition: Akira Di Sandro (piano) and Patrick Ward (trombone). We hope to see you there!

Sectionals: none this week. Work on what you need to for Tuesday's concert.

Reminder: all Concert Reviews are due this Friday, May 27th.

Section Leader Interviews: Signup for an interview on the whiteboard. Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the band program may apply. Interviews are next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after school.

D211 Honor Bandos: check out the honor band webpage & continue working on/listening to this repertoire. Be fully prepared for rehearsal Friday and Saturday. Looking forward to a great festival! ALL: Saturday's 2pm concert would be a fantastic opportunity for a concert review.

Band Awards Concert:
 next Tuesday, May 24th. Call time is 6:30pm in the music department. All students (except Symphony Orchestra members) will need to turn in uniforms immediately following the concert. Plan accordingly.

Sectionals: all bands will have sectionals this week. Due to the half-day, Friday's 4th period CB sectionals will be on Thursday. If there is not a director in your sectional, make sure to fill out a sectional attendance form to receive credit.

Performances This Week: Schaumburg HS Choir Tuesday @ 7pm, Conant HS Band Tuesday @ 7:30pm, Palatine HS Band Tuesday @ 7:30pm, Conant HS Band Thursday @ 7:30pm, D211 Honor Band Saturday @ 2pm (SHS Auditorium), Schaumburg Youth Symphony and Concert Orchestra Sunday @ 3pm & 7:30pm (Prairie Center for the Arts). Reminder: all Concert Reviews are due next Friday, May 27th.

Drum Major Candidates: thank you to everyone who auditioned last week and for your commitment and passion for the band. Next year's drum majors will be announced later this week.

Percussion: Spring Training Tuesday @ 7pm.

Community Engagement Meetings: The final community engagement meetings on facilities and finance are being held this Monday (at Conant) and Tuesday (at Fremd) at 7pm. Having the perspective of current D211 students and parents at these meetings is very important. All are encouraged to attend!
