COUNTDOWN: IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival is less than two weeks away (Saturday, March 7th). In-class recitals begin next Monday. Only 10 rehearsals left until we work with our Guest Conductor for the Band-Aid concerts.

Concert Review Opportunities This Week: Fremd Bands and Choirs "Jazz and Java" Concert this Tuesday Feb. 24th. Lots of great music on their program. Jazz in the Meadows - arguable the nation's biggest Jazz Festival is this weekend. All four SHS Jazz groups will be performing, and the evening will close with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. $15 for adults and $10 for students for the day, or $10 for adults and $7 for students for the closing concert.

D211 Honors Orchestra: WOW! What a performance on Saturday night. The orchestra sounded incredible. Congratulations Jaris, Heitman, Ward, Krueger, Lober, and Garratt!

Jazz 'n Joe Guest Artist: We are happy to announce that Chris Madsen will be this year's Jazz 'n Joe guest artist. Chris Madsen is one of the most in-demand saxophonists and jazz educators in the Chicagoland area. He is currently the 
Assistant Director of Jazz Studies at UIC, Jazz Program Director at Midwest Young Artists, and served as Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Northwestern from 2008-2014. Check out his website for more information: chrismadsen.net. Jazz 'n Joe is on Wednesday, April 1st.
