Band Announcements for the Week of May 26, 2015

Have you hugged a senior this week?

THANK YOU CLASS OF 2015: for your leadership, character, musicianship, and dedication to the SHS program. We are a better band because of you.

Sectionals:
 are done for the year.

Graduation Band: all non-seniors in WS and SB are members of the band that plays at Graduation this Sunday, May 31st. Call time is 9:15am @ SHS. We should be back between 12:30 and 1:00.

Symphony Orchestra: reminder - you have a dress rehearsal tonight Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30pm in the auditorium.

Spring Orchestra Concert: Wednesday 7pm in the auditorium. Sophomore Leilah Petit, winner of the 2015 SHS Concerto Competition, will perform Mozart's Flute Concerto in D Major. Check this out! 

Spring Valley Concert Band:
 
is looking for trumpets, trombones, euphoniums, and tubas for their summer concerts and beyond. Check out svcb.net for more information or see Mr. Inendino.

New Orleans: payments are due next Monday. After this, there are only two payments remaining (September/October).

Percussion: D211 Summer Drumline commitment forms are due Thursday. Also, all percussionists are invited to our first marching percussion clinic Thursday after school.

Student Board: thank you for a great year. We will have our last meeting next Wednesday at 1pm at Portillo's.

Jazz Ensemble: thank you for a great year. We will have our last meeting next Thursday at 1pm at Lou's.

Missing Uniforms: Allen (jacket collar and cape), Avila (SMB), Bjorkman (SMB and WS), Fay (sash and cape), Fentem (SMB), Foret (SMB), Hansen (WS), Kraemer (sash and cape), Pawlikowski (SMB), Tamason (SMB), Urbanowicz (SMB). All items need to be turned in by Friday or your final grades will be withheld.

Band Announcements for the Week of May 18, 2015

Congratulations, 2015 District 211 Honor Bandos! Thank you for representing SHS so well this past weekend. Professor Kellan had nothing but great things to say about the band. Bravo!

Band Awards Concert:
Tuesday, May 19 at 7pm in the Main Gym. Free admission. Call time is 6:30pm for all bands. Following the concert, all uniforms need to be turned in (bring a change of clothes!). All students and guests are then invited to our Awards Reception in the cafeteria for our end-of-year slideshow and senior awards.

SMB Student Leadership 2015:
Interviews will take place after school Wednesday-Friday. Please make sure you have filled out an application, which can be turned in at your interview or before (inbox on office door). Dress for success.

Sectionals: Only WS and SB this week. WS Monday, SB Tuesday. Work on any trouble spots in your concert music.

. Call time is 9:15am @ SHS. We should be back around 12:30pm. You will get more detailed information this week.

Tri-M Reminders: our End of Year Recital and Graduation Ceremony is Monday night @ 6pm in the band room. All members should be in attendance (if you have a conflict, see Mr. Inendino). At the end of the performances, seniors will be presented with their graduation tassels. On Saturday, we have several ensembles performing at Autumn Leaves in South Barrington at noon (more detailed information will be shared at Thursday's meeting).

Band Announcements for the Week of May 11, 2015

SMB Student Leadership 2015: If you are interested in being a section leader for next year’s Saxon Marching Band, sign up for a 10-minute interview slot on the whiteboard. Interviews will take place after school May 20-22.

Sectionals: WS Monday, SB Tuesday, CB Wednesday, Cadet Thursday. Please stay away from the auditorium during AP test times (you will see signs posted in the department).

Jazzers: Lab Band will meet Monday at 3pm.

Percussion Master Class: Monday at 7pm. All are welcome!


Village Tavern Dine-In Night: This Wednesday, May 13 from 11am to 11pm! Bring a flyer and support the band!

New Orleans: 4th payments should now be turned in ($800 so far). Please turn in May payments ASAP if you haven't already (we will be giving them to our Band Booster Treasurer on Tuesday night).

Concert Review Opportunities: This Saturday, the District 211 Honor Band performs at 2pm at Palatine High School. Mr. Ross Kellan (Elmhurst College) is our guest conductor. This concert features 100 of the best band musicians in our district, including 24 Saxons. This Sunday, Schaumburg Youth Orchestra presents their Spring Concert at 7:30pm at the Prairie Center for the Arts ($5 in advance, $7 at the door). Check out the board outside the music department for other upcoming concerts. REMINDER: all 2nd semester concert reviews are due on Friday, May 22.

Drum Major Auditions: Thank you to all of our drum major audition. This was an outstanding slate of candidates. Congratulations to the Drum Majors for the 2015-2016 Saxon Marching Band: Sean Honesty, Simona Stalev, and Caitlin Wilkes.


SMB Student Leadership 2015: If you are interested in being a section leader for next year’s Saxon Marching Band, more information will be announced this Wednesday. Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the band program may apply.

Cookie Dough/Popcorn Fundraiser Delivery: Monday after school. Please make sure you have arranged for pickup.

Manna Fundraiser: late orders will be accepted Monday. Orders will be available for pickup Thursday after school.


Cookie Dough/Popcorn Fundraiser IOU: Strohmeier ($17).

Jazzers: Jazz Ensemble is done rehearsing for the year. We will have an end-of-year lunch during finals week at Lou’s. More info to come. Lab Band will meet next week 3-4pm.

Schoology Assignments: due on Friday. These are our last Schoology assignments of the year.


Tri-M: CSO trip this Saturday. Meet at the Schaumburg Metra Station no later than 4pm.

Concert Review Opportunities: Tuesday, May 5th – Harper College Steel Band performs the music of the Beatles. Thursday, May 7th – Harper College Wind Symphony Concert.
