Welcome back! Everyone starts today with an A. We have a lot of exciting things coming up 2nd semester - let's make the best of it!

Congratulations to SHS Jazz Bands on several outstanding performances at the North Shore Jazz Fest! The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Quintet earned Division I "Superior" ratings, and the Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Sextet earned Division II ratings.

​Jazzers and Tri-M: yearbook photos will be taken Wednesday @ 3:45. Bring your instrument and meet on the shelf.

Pep Band Concert: this Wednesday, January 27th (call time is 6:30pm). Member shirts and blue jeans. This concert is required for all band students.

Pep Band Game: Also, there is a game Friday - 6:30 call time, Rainbow Night. There are 5 games remaining in the season.

Wind Symphony: due to extraordinary circumstances beyond our control, the Band-O-Rama Concert next Tuesday, February 2nd will now start at 6:30pm. Please tell your parents. Call time is 6:00pm.

IHSA Solo and Ensemble: registration for Solo and Ensemble is now closed. The goal chart will be posted in the hallway by the end of the week.

Sectionals: will resume next week. If your lunch period changed for 2nd semester, please let a director know.

Pep Band: next gig is the Pep Band Concert next Wednesday, January 27th (call time is 6:30pm).

IHSA Solo and Ensemble: is coming up on Saturday, March 5th. Registration is due Tuesday, January 19th (see link on Schoology). Any band student may sign up to take a solo and/or ensemble. Start looking for music (check JW Pepper, ask a music librarian to look in the library, or ask your private teacher). All WS/SB members must take at least one event.

Sectionals: none this week.

Finals: the department is open for practice or study for music department members only. If you would like to help in the library during a band period, sign up on the white board. There may be treats involved.
