Jazz Rehearsals This Week:
Lab Band: Monday: 3:00-5:00 and Thursday 3:00-4:30pm.
Combos: Quintet Wednesday 3:00-4:00pm. Sextet Thursday 4:30-5:30pm.
Sectionals: Wind Symphony Monday (Vesuvius with a metronome), Symphonic Band Tuesday (Mother Earth), Concert Band Wednesday (Different Voices), Cadet Band Friday (Longford mvt III).
T-Shirt Fundraiser: We are doing a new fundraiser to benefit the MS Foundation. We are selling t-shirts, long sleeve tees, hoodies, and kids tee with 100% of the profit going to MS. Orders are due March 1: teespring.com/shsband
IHSA Solo and Ensemble: You should be on Goal #4 this week. Have you met your goals so far? Have you updated your column on the big chart in the hallway? EVENT TIMES ARE NOW POSTED IN THE HALLWAY/FRONT OF THE BAND ROOM.
Schoology Assignments: Remember that all bands' Schoology assignments are due Friday at 4 pm.
COUNTDOWN: IHSA Solo and Ensemble Festival is less than two weeks away (Saturday, March 7th). In-class recitals begin next Monday. Only 10 rehearsals left until we work with our Guest Conductor for the Band-Aid concerts.
Concert Review Opportunities This Week: Fremd Bands and Choirs "Jazz and Java" Concert this Tuesday Feb. 24th. Lots of great music on their program. Jazz in the Meadows - arguable the nation's biggest Jazz Festival is this weekend. All four SHS Jazz groups will be performing, and the evening will close with Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. $15 for adults and $10 for students for the day, or $10 for adults and $7 for students for the closing concert.
