Scholarship Application Reminder

Seniors, a reminder about scholarships.

Qualifications:
  1. Must have attended Schaumburg High School their entire junior and senior years.  Transferees entering prior to the beginning of the second semester of junior will qualify.
  2. Must have been an instrumentalist, on a regular basis, in one of the Band classes (see Band Handbook) for the entire junior and senior year.
  3. Must be planning to attend an accredited college, university or conservatory.
  4. Be planning to participate in a musical function (i.e., music ensemble or music course) at the learning institution.  A major or minor in music is not required.

If all qualifications are met, the following steps must be taken in order to apply:
  1. Applications should be completed and returned to Mr. Miller or Mr. Inendino no later than Monday, May 5th, 2014.
  2. Applications must be typed and all signatures obtained.
  3. Transcript of grades is to be included with your application.  These should be requested from your counselor immediately.
  4. Optional interview may be requested by Scholarship Committee

Band Announcements for April 10, 2014

-April is Jazz Appreciation Month. Born in America. Enjoyed Worldwide.
-Fundraiser: Gniech take yours home and pay your bill.
-Jazz 'N Joe TONIGHT. 7:00. $2 cover. Tim Cofffman, jazz trombone is our guest artist. Jazz Ensemble, Lab Band, D54 Jazzers, Choraliers are performing. Starbucks and snacks are available. Good for semester review.
-Jazz "N Joe staff: Set up will start 5:30ish. Wait staff dress is white top/black pants; get here at 6:30.
-Jazzers: Set up the stage tonight at 6:00. Nobody leaves until Kevin Hill is ready to go. Many hands make less work for everyone. Thanks.

-CB sectionals: Work on Celtic.
-No orchestra tday.
-Pit orchestra today at 3:00.
-Fundraiser: Soham take yours home. Gniech owes lots of $$$.
-Jazz 'n Joe: Sign up to help. It's tomorrow night.
-Senior bios were due on Monday.
-Our former trumpet teacher Kris Dahlin passed away of cancer. I think he had moved before any of you started at SHS, but if you are in contact with a SHS trumpet alum, let them know. He was an outstanding trumpet teacher and most importantly a good person.

-No pit orchestra after school today. We will meet tomorrow.
-Fundraisers: Zielinski, Warren, Couston, Dave, DiSandro: Take these home today.
-Auditions continue today.
-Music dept. will be closed today at 3:00.
-Jazz 'N Joe Coffeehouse: Set-up/wait staff sign up on front board.

-WS Sectionals: Fix what needs to be fixed for the Hersey gig on Sat.
-Lab Band 5:30 tonight. Jazz Ensemble 7:30 ...Tim Coffman is in tonight.
-Senior bios: Due today. Put in music office mail box.
-Jazz coffeehouse set-up and wait staff: Sign up on front board,
-Fundraiser delivered today. Be sure you have necessary transportion.
-Pit orchestra: We are cancelled for tomorrow. Our Wed. rehearsal will be with the cast. BTW...didja catch the opening of SNL this week? You know this music!
-No Auditions today. Mr. I is out.

Opening Day at Wrigley Field today..."hope springs eternal"...Wrigley is 100 years old this season.

-Congratulations to Jocquil Givens. He is this year's winner of the SHS Concerto Competition.
-Fundraiser delivered on Monday. Arrange transportation if necessary
-Jazzers: Take the April 17 off your calendar. Its been cancelled.
-DM Tryouts after school today.
-Fundraiser IOUs: Schacter $60, Schmaus $11, O'Day $14, Wilkes $56.
-The classical music world lost a legend, Ray Still died. He was oboist for the CSO for 40 years.
-Percussion: There are still guys without forms turned in. These are considered late.
-ALL HORNS GO HOME FOR THE WEEKEND. Audition music...Hersey music...Master class...
